Job Description:

Purpose of the Job

The purpose of the Senior Accountant is to manage the accounting functions for the Construction
Services Accounting group.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

* Perform initial review of draw packages and Upfront Capital Report for each assigned renovation property and manage monthly tracking of actual spend against the budget
* Perform initial review of Property Needs Assessment report for capital projects for assigned properties and manage monthly tracking of actual spend against the budget
* Manage accuracy of unit cost reports and perform periodic reviews to ensure current pricing is properly reflected
* Ensure proper monthly and quarterly reporting for assigned properties
* Work with Contract Administrators to ensure all required lien waivers have been provided by contractors and subcontractors prior to payment processing
* Perform final review and approval of all cap-ex and renovation invoices submitted through the purchasing system, or affiliated with a contract
* Record fixed asset activity in Yardi Fixed Assets module and post depreciation monthly for assigned properties
* Review and approve monthly account reconciliations performed by Construction Accountant for assigned properties
* Review committed costs and invoices to ensure expenses are accrued in the proper period for assigned properties
* Work with Community Managers to resolve questions or issues relating to rehab projects and capital expenditures
* Work with Contract Administration to ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner
* Assist PA's/APA's with quarterly and year-end audit requests involving properties with current or previous renovation projects
* Review and approve reclasses submitted by PA's
* Support Manager CSG Financial Services as needed with preparing and gathering documentation relating to casualty projects
* Collaborate with ISG, Accounting, and Renovation and Property Improvements team on proper renovation budget set up for new additions to renovation portfolio
* Review cash funded by owners to ensure all journal entries were booked and approve checks to be released to vendors
* Assist Manager CSG Financial Services with annual budget process for assigned properties

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Must be proficient with MS office, including Excel
* Yardi experience preferred
* Strong written and verbal communication skills required
* Ability to demonstrate the Bell Core Values

* Must demonstrate ability to provide exceptional customer service

Education and Background

* BA or BS required, preferably in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent work plus education)
* Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
