Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford is the heart and soul of Stanford Children s Health. Nationally ranked and internationally recognized, our 311-bed hospital is devoted entirely to pediatrics and obstetrics. Our six centers of excellence provide comprehensive services and deep expertise in key obstetric and pediatric areas: brain & behavior, cancer, heart, pregnancy & newborn, pulmonary and transplant. We also provide an additional, wide range of services for babies, kids and pregnant moms.

The Sr. Application Architect is a member of the Production Support Team and has direct responsibility for establishing and managing the long and short term application strategy, processes and procedures for applications and associated infrastructure. LPCH application portfolio includes a number of clinical, administrative, business, and financial applications, internet and intranet systems. The Sr. Architect participates in the application design and implementation, analyzes application activities, makes recommendations for improvement, translates organizational business and clinical needs to technology requirements and proposes appropriate technologies and services to enable the enterprise to meet strategic and tactical objectives. The Sr. Applications Architect participates in developing business cases for new systems. The Sr. Application Architect responsible for identifying opportunities and for creation of enterpriselevel shared applications and infrastructure (e.g. web servers and database farms, content document and management). The Sr. Application Architect sets enterprise application standards and architectural guidelines, technology policies and procedures, collaborates with the Technical Architect, effectively communicates them to users and suppliers, establish and maintain the application innovation process.

Essential Functions


Aligns business/clinical needs and technology requirements.

Applies the Enterprise Architecture methodology to LPCH application infrastructure.

Brings innovative solutions.

Builds and leverages relationship with key technology partners/vendors.

Develops application and associated infrastructure architectures, collaborates with the service providers to ensure their proper implementation.

Establish baseline, ensure completeness of documentation.

Integrates with IS strategic planning.

Participate in business case development, project sizing, design and implementation.

Participate in technology governance with service providers, University, School of Medicine, SHC.

Perform gap analysis to determine where current applications do not meet client needs and propose appropriate improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor s degree (preferably in Business Administration, Information Technology or Finance) or equivalent work experience

Experience: Five (8) years of progressively responsible and directly related work including three (3) years architecture experience in a health care provider organization

License/Certification: None
