Responsibilities/Job Description:

Senior Category Analyst supports management of a category/sub-categories as directed by Category Manager by providing critical analytical support to their assigned categories.

Job Responsibilities:

* Participates in and supports category councils as directed by Category Leadership. May represent Category Manager in teams and councils as assigned

* Contributes to assessment of current market situation and identification of opportunities

* Contributes to detailed planning and execution of improvement actions with users and suppliers

* Participates in negotiation with suppliers and prepares contracts and agreements under the direction of Category Manager

* Contributes to supplier relationships for the category including building/reviewing supplier scorecards and executing supplier improvement programs

* Identifies non-compliance to contracts, investigates the root cause, and resolves root causes where possible

* Builds spend analysis of categories and identifies potential opportunities

* Creates and maintains category profile documents that outline the strategy of the category, lessons learned from previous initiatives, improvement opportunities for the future, and current market conditions

* Serves as a mentor to other Analysts

* Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

* A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Distribution, or related field

* At least 5 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain or related field

Desired Qualifications:

* Strong analytical skills (data analysis-economic, financial and statistical)

* Data extraction, cleaning and analysis from a wide variety of data systems

* Advanced computer skills (MS Office Suite, applicable supply chain system and internet) required.

* Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail required.

* Negotiation skills a plus

* Excellent interpersonal skills

* Demonstrated ability to provide positive pushback and effective collaboration to resolve a conflict.

* MBA or advanced degree preferred

* At least 3 years prior oil & gas or other process industry work experience

* At least 3 years of relevant experience in natural gas industry preferred

* Market research skills

* Knowledge of and proficiency in ERP and Procurement systems

* Good working knowledge of supply chain concepts, processes and requirements. Manages diverse relationships

* Thinks innovatively and strategically

* Communicates and influences effectively

* Excellent oral and written communication skills required including presentation skills
