Currently, we are seeking a talented Sr. Data Scientist to join our Retirement Solutions Division, Advanced Analytics Team in Newport Beach, California. The Retirement Solutions Division leverages its strengths in product development, technology, service and risk management to create retirement solutions for individuals, families, and businesses. With the guidance of financial professionals, customers have access to an array of annuities and mutual funds designed to help grow assets and to provide retirement income for financial independence.

The data scientist job responsibilities include:

*Participate in use case feasibility discussions and transalte business idea/ business problem into analytics use case
*Perform complex data analyses, segmentation, and profiling
*Develop and maintain complex analytical models and algorithms
*Build sophisticated predictive/prescriptive models to generate insights about customers, products, sales, and operations for specific use cases. Create and maintain the master data file and model predictive summary
*Explain insights from analyses and point out implications, risks, and usability constraints
*Write model technical documentation
*Prepare and deliver presentations detailing results of analytics
*Own the model development from end-to-end, starting with data collection to incorporating adjustments post-pilot
*Provide support as needed to maintain and update models running in production environment
*Develop trusted partnerships with business stakeholders and subject matter experts
*Develop and command a deep understanding and working knowledge of Pacific Life’s suite of IT systems, data sources, and data models

FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:

*4+ years of work experience with 3+ years of data analysis experience
*Expertise in algorithm design, machine learning, applied statistics
*MS/Phd in Computer Science/ Operations Research/ linear programming/ statistics
*Expertise in designing analytic use cases
*Very strong problem solving skills and quantitative/ analytical thinking capabilities
*Expertise in doing multivariate predictive modeling using analytics tools (e.g. Alteryx, SPSS, SAS), analytical programming (e.g., R, Python, Matlab), data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) Experience with building models for sales and marketing use cases preferred
*Have passion for data and a proven track record in use of SQL and working with data including: extracting information, validating data, creating and maintaining custom data structures, and generally enhancing Pacific Life's ability to make data-driven decisions
*Demonstrate innovative thinking and high level of curiosity
*Ability to evolve and adapt to a wide range of problems
*Flexible, quick learner, and able to work independently without close supervision
*Ability to collaborate and work effectively in cross functional teams
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Entrepreneurial spirit and a keen interest in building the solution
*Excellent academic track record and professional track record of success
