Job Description

At Mattel, we understand that creating the world's most beloved brands requires more than just having the world's greatest toys. Our Boys' Consumer Products Design division specializes in extending our iconic Hot Wheels and Max Steel brands through all categories of licensed products throughout the world, including apparel, accessories, sporting goods, publishing and more. This opportunity is located at Mattel's World Headquarters in El Segundo, California.

We are currently seeking a Senior Designer to join our Boys Brands Consumer Products Style Guide Team. The ideal candidate will come in and hit the ground running with strong creative support on everything from graphic design, illustration art direction and style guide development across our boys' brands. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential and will require this designer to communicate their ideas clearly and effectively. This position requires someone to be receptive to constructive input throughout the design process.

The Senior Designer will also be responsible for reviewing and approving licensee submissions from all global markets to ensure that our industry-leading products are true to the creative direction that we've set for our brands. A positive attitude, rock-solid work ethic, enthusiasm and fun-loving personality are required. Knowledge of youth entertainment and car culture/action sports is a plus. Previous packaging experience is also helpful.

Responsibilities:
Conceive, develop and execute graphics for style guides, publishing and packaging for a youth-oriented target
Collaborate with internal design and marketing teams during product inception and refinement phases
Collaborate with external licensees to elevate their designs
Review design submissions from licensees and offer feedback
Contribute to the design and production of style guides

Qualifications:
Degree in Graphic Design, Illustration or relevant experience
Related toy CPG experience preferred (Disney, Warner Bros. exp.) in addition to graphics experience in Boys Action Play/Sports/Gaming/Entertainment etc.
Strong visual dialog skills through sketching or digital tools
Interest in vehicles, action sports, entertainment, toys and youth culture
3 to 5 years experience in design relative to the above interest
Highly proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and Powerpoint
Knowledge or experience in licensing, publishing, packaging or entertainment a plus
Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple projects and tight deadlines
Can-do attitude, and strong, independent work ethic
