JOB DESCRIPTIONResponsibilities:* Maintain processes that will result in accurate financial statements and related disclosures being included in required filings with the SEC (Form 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K), as well as Proxy, Earnings Releases and other governmental reports
* Assess material transactions for compliance with GAAP and SEC rules, as well as the possible impact on business operations and related financial reporting. Identify and assess changes in accounting rules as established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the SEC, the Emerging Issues Task Force, International Accounting Standards Board and other organizations. Make recommendations on how to adopt and achieve the best and most supportable impact for the Company.
* Consult with Finance and operations personnel (U.S. and International) on appropriate application of GAAP. Qualifications:To successfully satisfy the job requirements, the Senior Director must have a degree in accounting, be a CPA, and have additional, usually 'on the job' training in written communications, accounting research tools and techniques, and office software applications.
The Senior Director should at least 15 years of professional experience; five to seven years in public accounting, and the remaining experience in a Fortune 500 company's external reporting section performing substantially all of the functions described herein. It is mandatory that the Senior Director have extensive experience in researching, interpreting, and applying the various sources of GAAP and SEC disclosure practices to actual business situations.
Current and deep understanding of the body of literature considered GAAP (pronouncements of Financial Accounting Standards Board, SEC, EITF, AICPA, etc.)
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Position requires development of disclosure telling a meaningful and appropriate depiction of results for the period, as well as satisfying disclosure rules.Creative problem-solving ability. Questions and issues are often complex and without specific accounting rules on point. Requires analytical skills and judgement on application of principles.Requires excellent interpersonal skills to develop common goal on projects that cross business units.Requires command of office and financial computer applications.
