The Senior Director, Americas Marketing will have a highly visible leadership role within NetApp and report directly to the VP WW Field and Channel Marketing. He/She will be responsible for driving field and channel marketing across the entire suite of NetApp's products, platforms and solution offerings. This person will also be the face of marketing to the Americas senior sales leadership team.
This role will act as a bridge between Global Marketing, sales, channel and field marketing to ensure alignment of our go to market strategy with the company's overarching business objectives, the Global Marketing Initiatives and the sales strategy. Regular interaction with senior level sales and marketing people is expected. This individual will be responsible for the go-to-market strategy and marketing operations associated with all of NetApp s products and solutions.
The successful candidate will bring a wealth of field experience in enterprise space and a deep understanding of how to translate sales strategies to a marketing plan that drives measurable results. In addition, s/he will possess exemplary communications skills and be a key member of the senior marketing staff. S/he must bridge any gaps between the global marketing groups to ensure the field needs are being addressed, and be the voice of the field.
Ideally, this position will be located in the company's headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA. May consider other locations.
Be a key interface to Americas sales and provide outstanding leadership and direction over the field and channel marketing function for the entire NetApp portfolio. Work cross organizationally to gain consensus and alignment across sales and the entire global marketing organization.
Build a vision and strategy that includes the entire Americas business designed specifically to drive awareness, demand and qualified leads for sales/channel.
Responsible for ensuring product launches, key initiatives, and promotions are affectively communicated to sales/channel. Before implementing, work with global marketing and sales to ensure that operationally all aspects of the program are fully ready to go, the field is ready to implement and we can affectively measure the success of the programs.
Gather, synthesize and deliver customer and market feedback to the global and field marketing organization to ensure optimal application of resources to market opportunities and alignment of field facing capabilities to customer needs
Lead an Americas team of 35 with 5 direct reports.
Proven leadership skills building and managing large teams with a track record of success working with sales
Skills and Experience Required:
An understanding and background in building a go to market strategy in a complex enterprise technology company.
Experience running field and channel marketing in an organization with multiple product lines and solutions.
The ideal candidate will have been responsible for an entire geography and the entire go-to-market process including managing product releases, closed loop lead processes, demand generation programs, account based marketing programs and joint partner marketing efforts.
Deep understanding of the enterprise storage space. This includes fundamentals of the storage market technologies, competition, global trends, and the ability to contribute to shaping the overall strategy
Ideal candidate will have a strong track record of working with sales as a partner building marketing strategies that align to the sales strategy and delivers quantitative results
Proven track record marketing new and mature products to customers across all market segments; verticals, enterprise and mid-market
Has led marketing operations and has a strong bias to tracking and measuring and reporting success.
Experienced at recruiting, retaining, building and mentoring a team of world-class field and channel marketing professionals; a strong track record for developing and driving that talent to consistently overachieve its goals
Must possess the senior presence, credibility, relationships, and influencing skills needed to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders
Education and Experience
Education and Experience Requirements:
Undergraduate degree (ideally in an engineering or related field) required; MBA preferred or equivalent additional experience
Fifteen or more years of broad technology product marketing experience with a significant background in enterprise storage.
