JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Description
The Sr. Engineer position Design and create pricing models that will ensure profitable and sustainable business wins. Analyze, measure and improve vehicle / fleet utilization on a continual basis, with a focus on minimizing empty miles (route balancing) to ensure maximum profitability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist business with sales efforts by identifying opportunities within current operations, i.e. selling into existing capacity, cross-selling of products.
Perform fleet cost calculations to 1) ensure accurate pricing (rates) to clients and 2) provide cost-saving recommendations.
Design and review route / load rates on a regular basis to make sure we re recovering correctly.
Analyze profitability of clients and products and provide necessary recommendations where required by maintaining, utilizing and improving the Activity Based Costing model
Analyze data to identify high density areas / volumes for possible future growth and expansion.
Design, implement and project manage key strategic initiatives (identifying locations for and setting-up truck-terminals). As well as play a key role in implementation of these initiatives.
Compile business cases for new initiatives, with a focus on ROI calculations (investing in new trucks, owner operator vs. own fleet, setting-up terminals).
Work closely with other business units to maximize synergies and cost-savings.
Develop simulation / optimization modelling on current and proposed scenarios to validate or improve operations.
Reporting of all projects and initiative to key stakeholders on a regular basis (and on a single platform PPO). Maintain project plans with a focus on deliverables, timelines, risks and budget.
Present all calculations, findings and recommendations to both internal and external customers.
Work with cross-functional teams to design solutions, including process / business mapping to improve quality and productivity.
Facilitate, analyze and manage CIP related projects and initiatives.
Work closely with operations to implement new business initiatives, as well as develop plans for optimizing existing business. * Build and maintain strong working relationships with sales, operations and other business areas.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor s Degree or higher in Engineering
3 years of logistics and transportation experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
* Strong proficiency required in MS Office Applications especially in MS Excel
* English (reading, writing and verbal)
* Strong mathematical skills
* Excellent oral, written and automated communication skills.
* Ability to apply team concepts to achieve team objectives.
* Detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task, and superior time management skills.
* Superior analytical and problem solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Willing to travel (10-15%) if requested.
