JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY The Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist, in the Office of the Vice President for Research Administration, reports to the Senior Director of Grants Management and is responsible for the management of contracts and sub contracts for assigned schools and colleges, including, processing research contracts and agreements, and research compliance activities. Responsibilities include: reviewing and interpreting external sponsor guidelines and assisting in contract preparation; submitting proposals by the deadline and accepting awards for research; reviewing award terms and conditions; and serving as a liaison between the Office of University Counsel, university researchers and outside funding agencies in contract negotiations. The Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist will also serve as a mentor and training resource for unit technical and administrative staff.
Additional duties include: preparing internal reports and responding to inquiries from executive level university administration concerning specific grant and contract information; developing trainings for the university community; assisting with updates to the electronic research administration system to manage all phases of contracts and grants; and educating assigned schools and college PIs and research personnel on all new electronic systems, university and sponsor regulations and guidelines, and updated policy and procedures including compliance with federal research guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least five years of directly related contract and subcontract administration experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Demonstrated knowledge of project budgeting and fiscal management.
*Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of research contracts and sub contracts procedures and requirements.
*Demonstrated Knowledge of FAR and Uniform Guidance regulations.
*Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with spreadsheet and database software programs.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituent population.
*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to work within tight and often conflicting deadlines.
*Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented.
*Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
