Job Description
This position is responsible for administration and operations of Varian server and storage infrastructure. Collaborate with application and infrastructure groups on Project Implementation and Daily Operations. Ensures Varian Infrastructure Operations are conducted in accordance with standard procedures and SLAS.

Responsibilities include:

Maintain a service perspective and provide exceptional service to all infrastructure customers.
Contribute to projects that include server, storage, virtualization and network with local and global scope.
Collaborate with resources from all groups to create and maintain infrastructure standards.
Manage, facilitate and deploy new infrastructure as prioritized by technology management. Including implementation, support and operations.
Manage work queues for incidents, problems, changes, tasks and requests and ensure workload is effectively managed.
Coordinate with network team, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of VMWare systems and Storage.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.
Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
Recommend and execute modifications to VMWare systems and Storage infrastructure in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Establish and implement process, procedures, and technologies to ensure system and storage subsystem security.
Provide support for VMWare VCenter, VCloud Director, VMWare View systems globally.
Review and implement new VMWare system releases and vendor supplied patches.
Comply with and advocate for the use of operational processes and procedures.
Able to provide valuable analysis of storage performance and capacity data, use this to optimize the storage environment, and provide forecasting and trend analysis to facilitate planning.
Provide 24X7 supports for production systems.
Partner with existing support resources and peers to ensure effective and efficient operations.
Support Disaster Recovery planning, and execution.
Ensure process adherence, quality and improvement of operations.
Responsible for delivering excellence via a commitment to service and quality.
Ensuring system updates, and keeps up with maintenance and hardware/software refresh.
Organizing and maintaining inventory of hardware and software.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Certifications in VMWare Systems Administration.
Specific knowledge of VMView platforms required.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining VMWare, vCNS, VCloud Director, VMWare servers with a global scope is a plus.
Ability to design robust processes for complex problems.
Ability to recognize relationships and interdependencies between systems and processes.
Strong knowledge of operating systems (Linux, AIX, Windows) isa plus.
VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) is a plus.
Intermediate SQL skills (Oracle, DB2, MYSQL or MS SQL) is a plus.
Knowledge of multiple Storage vendor's is a plus NetApp, Hitachi, and others is a plus.
Knowledge data center management and process.
Effectively communicate with global stakeholders with varied expertise and technical strengths.
Understand technical operations and quickly learn new technologies and solutions to manage their implementation.
Maintain momentum on all projects and follow every detail through to completion.
Use best judgment to escalate status and inform as necessary, to seek guidance or intervention.
Collaborate with a large team focused on 24x365 infrastructure operations with global scope.
Understand the importance of process and procedure and advocate for adherence.

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to consult effectively with senior members of the organization. Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills. Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

Typical Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) and 6-8 yrs related experience or Masters Degree with 5 years of related experience.
