Position Summary
The Office of the Chief Investment Officer is responsible for managing the University of California's retirement, endowment, working capital, and cash assets under the policies, guidelines, and performance benchmarks established by the Regents. The mission of the Office is to implement those policies and guidelines by selecting, executing, and monitoring investment strategies designed to add value over the benchmarks within a risk-controlled framework.

The Office adheres to high ethical as well as professional standards in serving the investment management needs of its constituency and the Chief Investment Officer has full investment discretion while the Regents retain responsibility for Asset Allocation and Investment Guidelines.

The Senior Investment Analyst, Private Markets will report to the Managing Director of Private Equity and will work collaboratively with the Office and the Private Markets investment team to implement the strategies across private markets including private equity, real estate, hedge funds, real assets and opportunistic investments. The Office of the Chief Investment Officer seeks to be a solution provider in the alternative investment landscape and seeking a Senior Investment Analyst that is able to support the implementation of a flexible and nimble investment approach through managers, co-investments, secondaries, non-traditional partnerships, opportunistic directs and separate accounts. An important role for the Sr. Investment Analyst is to collaborate across the Private Markets team and support new and existing investments. The role will also be responsible for monitoring investments with managers as well as directly with companies. This includes the sourcing, selection, evaluation and ongoing assessment of these investments. The Sr. Investment Analyst will perform related research, work with the Private Markets leadership team and the Office as a whole to achieve the best risk adjusted returns, and prepare and oversee the preparation of reports and presentations.

In conjunction with the Managing Director, Directors and Investment Officers the Senior Investment Analyst will be asked to support the team on private equity, real estate, hedge funds, real assets and opportunistic investing. This includes assisting in the analysis and documentation of investments including building and analyzing complex financial models as well as writing investment recommendations for review by other team members. This position does not include independent monitoring or ongoing assessment of investments. The Senior Investment Analyst will perform related research, work with the private markets team to achieve the best risk adjusted returns, and prepare and oversee the preparation of reports and presentations. The Senior Investment Analyst's main role is to provide leverage to the senior team members and their ability to make new investments and monitor the existing portfolio more effectively with particular emphasis on a flexible investment approach across asset areas.
