ROLE SUMMARY:

This position will be a focused position related to the refrigeration, vapor recovery, and other specialized mechanical systems in the South Texas District. This position will require an individual with strong fundamental engineering skills background and a strong appetite for learning and owning certain systems within the South Texas District. This individual s ownership of these systems will be very much hands-on and will include: preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, trouble-shooting, repairs, and optimization of these systems. This position will be the Subject Matter Expert in these areas for the District and may be the same for the Business Group/Company as well. This position will be located on the plant sites in Corpus Christi, Texas and regional gathering sites nearby.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: THIS POSITION WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE FOLLOWING FUNCTIONS AND SKILL SETS.

*

As a participant; complete formal technical, operations, and maintenance training provided by the manufacturers of the equipment associated with the refrigeration systems.
*

As a participant; complete formal technical, operations, and maintenance training provided by the manufacturers of the equipment associated with the vapor recovery systems.
*

As a participant; complete formal technical, operations, and maintenance training provided by the manufacturers of the equipment associated with the vapor combustion systems.
*

Develop risk analyses for all pertinent systems. Perform criticality analyses and identify risk mitigations for the critical equipment. As a minimum, the mitigations will include development of predictive and preventive maintenance procedures and identification and procurement of critical spare parts.
*

Troubleshoot issues arising within the pertinent systems. Develop and manage action plans for repairs. Participate in the implementation of the repairs as a technical resource. Work with the Reliability Engineer to perform Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) of critical failures and to develop metrics for systems performance (e.g. MTBF, MTTR, Availability, Bad-Actors, etc.).

Serve as a technical resource for the operations of the systems. Provide training of Operators and provide inputs to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
*

Identify opportunities for optimization of the pertinent systems. Lead and manage optimization projects from the technical perspective.
*

Identify turn-around project needs and participate in the planning of the turn-around projects relating to the pertinent systems.
*

Report routinely to Management on the status and condition of the pertinent systems
*

And other duties as assigned.

Intrinsic mastery of the thermodynamics of vapor-compression refrigeration systems.

Intimate familiarity with the hardware components of vapor-compression refrigeration equipment.

Intrinsic mastery of hydrocarbon vapor adsorption, desorption, and absorption processes.

Intimate familiarity with the hardware components of vapor adsorption/absorption systems.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

*

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
*

10 years experience working daily in refrigeration and/or vapor adsorption/absorption systems.
*

10 years experience in a plant engineering/plant maintenance organization in the refining or petrochemical industries
*

Travel up to 10% of time

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:

*

Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain license in a maximum of one year s time

OTHER SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES AND ABILITIES:

*

Mastery of communication with other engineering professionals, suppliers, and contractors.
*

Skillful in Microsoft Office suite of software, AutoCAD, engineering and design software packages

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

This person must meet medical criteria established by OSHA for emergency response.

Position may require exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous environments and require the physical stamina to climb tanks, work long hours in the field and wear a respirator.
