Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE The Consumer Insights team provides market intelligence, primary research and consulting to The senior leadership team to support major strategic decisions with actionable insights about our customers. The Senior Manager is responsible for developing and managing the execution of primary and secondary research projects for a broad range of internal clients, including the executive leadership team, Marketing, Merchandising and Operations. He/she acts as a subject matter expert on the customer and provides ongoing strategic thought leadership about our markets, product categories and competitors. MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop long-term consulting relationships with internal stakeholders to identify and address business issues pertaining to our customers, markets, product categories and competitors.
Propose, develop, and manage the execution of primary research in support of the company's strategic objectives.
Review and monitor secondary/syndicated information sources.
Deliver concise findings and recommendations that integrate data from different domains to provide a holistic view of the customer and the marketplace. NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to Director Consumer Insights
Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates. EDUCATION REQUIRED The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job. YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 8 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Understanding of U.S. Hispanic cultural norms
Understanding of African-American cultural norms
Experience in designing and executing multicultural primary research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
Masters Degree in Marketing Research or Statistics, or MBA
Experience in client side marketing research
Experience in retail and/or consulting KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
Highly collaborative team player who is focused, self-motivated, detail oriented, and flexible - able to adapt to changing priorities and tight timelines.
Technical competency in a broad array of qualitative and quantitative methods and analyses, including Ethnography, Copy Testing, Brand Positioning, Concept Testing, Segmentation, Key Drivers Analysis, Price Elasticity, Choice Modeling
Project management skills, including the ability to manage external suppliers to deliver actionable insights in a timely and cost-effective manner
Consulting skills, including the ability to define the needs of internal clients and link outcomes to objectives
Analytical skills, including the ability to assimilate extensive amounts of detailed data and to see the big picture, providing actionable/influential recommendations
Quantitative reasoning skills, including the ability to work with numbers and to summarize quantitative data in graphical or tabular forms
Thought leadership skills, including the ability to recognize trends/opportunities and formulate hypotheses and recommendations relevant to the business
Written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to present complex information to senior executives
Adept at PowerPoint and Excel
