Sr. Mortgage Spec Lrg Markets

Overview: Responsible for underwriting all residential mortgage loan types in conformity with Secondary Market requirements and Bank policy.Key Responsibilities: -To analyze and comprehend complex documents in the mortgage files including borrowers financial ability, resources, and past performance & property collateral valuation.-Assist sales representatives, mortgage processors, branch personnel, third party originators and legal counsel (closing agents) with questions, problems and documentation requirements.-Summarize the contents of the mortgage file and approve, decline and close loan based on overall risk.-Will have contact with agencies and investors to ensure adherence to their guidelines. -Rework and re-evaluate documents in the mortgage file when changes are requested.-Responsible for inputting/updating accurate information in Mortgage Operating system. Prepare the commitment letter and all applicable disclosures.-Meet daily/weekly/monthly underwriting goal.-Performs other assignments and projects as required. - Must adhere to pertinent laws, regulations, First Niagara’s Compliance Policy and external compliance requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Bachelors Degree-1-3 year’s residential underwriting experience-Computer proficiency - Word and Excel -Business acumen - Thorough knowledge and understanding of standards and guidelines for underwriting. Thorough knowledge and understanding of standards and guidelines for underwriting FNMA, FHLMC, CHFA and FHA mortgage loans.
