Department Description

Radiology uses imaging techniques, such as X-rays and ultrasound, to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions. At UCSF Medical Center, we offer a full spectrum of techniques, using the most advanced equipment.

Services offered at the Imaging Center at China Basin include CT (CAT), coronary CT , MRI, PET, PET-CT and nuclear medicine procedures. The Precision Spine and Peripheral Nerve Center and research programs of the Center for Molecular and Functional Imaging are also located here.


Job Summary

Performs nuclear medicine procedures using radionuclides to assist in diagnosis or treatment.
Develops films or processes images on appropriate archival systems. Participates in performance improvement activities in the department. Maintains appropriate quality control records and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.

Work Environment

* Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture.

* Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility.

* Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows.

* Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments.

* Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft.

Required Qualifications

* Require CTNM, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board of California

* Graduate of a formal nuclear medicine training program in an approved school

* Requires certification in phlebotomy

* Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holidays

* The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required

Preferred Qualifications

* Prefer recent work experience in an acute care setting.

* Prefer BCLS

Licensure/Certification

* Require CTNM, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board of California

* Requires certification in phlebotomy
