Sr. Procurement Specialist, Grains

Job Summary

The Sr. Procurement Specialist - Grains position will enable ConAgra's efforts to be a world-class purchaser of edible beans, seeds, pasta, and other grains. It will involve broad exposure and involvement with key members of Supply Chain, Research, Quality & Innovation, Finance, Marketing and Brand Management teams. Responsibilities include developing and implementing category strategies, leading strategic sourcing and supplier initiatives, and employing risk management strategies. Scope: $100+MM in annual purchases across multiple operating companies and platforms

Position Responsibilities

* Responsible for the procurement of $100M+ in annual purchasing volume, across divergent categories, plants, and brand groups.

* Lead the development and execution of physical procurement strategy, supplier selection, and cost reduction efforts.

* Lead global sourcing efforts for several grain items

* Provide guidance to risk mgt. team so they can implement hedging strategies

* Handles internal/external sales and transfers of semi-finished goods

* Provide clear communication to team members and external customers on strategy, position, and related activities and issues.

* Lead SAP readiness for categories & represent the commodity group in the design and implementation of software needs.

* Assure the service and quality requirements of ConAgra Foods are met, along with the required innovation and product improvements.

* Provide leadership, guidance and direction in the professional development of direct and in-direct reports.

* Proactively work with Operating Groups/Brands to resolve all supply chain issues.

* Responsible for PPV reporting, overall position management, and budgeting.

* Drives cost savings activities

Position Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

* 2-3 years of significant and diverse management experience in commodity procurement or related areas.

* Computer skills - Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and SAP is a plus.

* Deep knowledge of the food business. Understanding of economics, technical issues and ability to perform independent value analysis.

* Understanding and proficiency in futures and options to support ConAgra's risk management activities.

* Superior project management capabilities.

* Superior problem solving skills and the ability to think "outside the box".

* A team player; able to use strong communication, analytical and management skills to lead a diverse group forward.

* Demonstrated strengths in relationship building, problem solving and conflict management.

* 10-20% travel required
