JOB DESCRIPTIONSUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing and directing the day to day production activities in Farms located on multiple sites. Interacts and makes suggestions with respect to pig production practices and Seaboard policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Oversee quality control function of Seaboard Farms production. Ensure that animals going to Seaboard Farms commercial nursery production operations are in compliance with Seaboard Farms standards of quality.
* Provide development and training as needed to direct reports.
* Serve as contact between Cell Manager and Farm Managers.
* Maintains cost structure within parameters established by the company.
* Prepare and maintain a monthly summary of production statistics for monitoring production that is presented at period end to company officials.
* Manage to meet the key production and cost targets.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Perform performance appraisals with employees on regularly scheduled intervals. Assure that production tasks, company policies and regulations are adhered to as outlined in training/procedures manuals.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or four to six years related experience and/or training in sow production; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual skills preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to perform necessary calculations for completion of any and all Farm documentation.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION: A valid driver s license is required and an acceptable MVR.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift 50 lbs occasionally. Must be able to move from place to place to all areas of production. Must be able to climb ladders or platforms and enter confined spaces.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to waste material, feed and hog dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes very loud. Work environment includes a normal office environment as well as climate extremes found in the production operations. Incumbent is required to travel to remote facilities.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.
