Job Description

Malcolm Pirnie is seeking an individual located in metropolitan Chicago area with proven ability to develop and sustain utility client relationships. Technical focus is drinking water supply, treatment, and distribution. Must have successful history of client development and effective project leadership and delivery with water utilities in the Chicago region.

Business Development:

-Be active and visible in organizations such as the West Shore Water Producers Association and the Illinois and Wisconsin chapters of AWWA,

- Develop, maintain, and update strategic clients and associated opportunities.

-Identify client needs and develop successful strategies to pursue client opportunities and meet those needs.

-Develop and sustain 'delighted clients' who want us as a partner, and will keep retaining us. Act as a champion for clients while balancing Malcolm Pirnie/ARCADIS interests with those of clients. Serve as internal coach for client-focused behaviors.

-Develop clear understanding of client needs, both explicit and implicit. Broaden relationships by coordinating multi-level rapport with decision makers.

-Communicate client expectations to our project teams, including special needs, definitions and measurements of success, and special procedural requirements.

-Through strategic client development in Illinois and Wisconsin, help us grow and develop our local offices.

Project Planning and Delivery:

-Ensure that contract terms are technically, financially, and legally sound. Evaluate liability associated with project, and obtain appropriate approvals for risk management decisions.
-
-Provide input on project objectives and strategies.

-Challenge team to introduce innovations and creativity into project solutions.

-Ensure that quality control procedures are defined and understood.

-Maintain knowledge of project progress and initiate appropriate discussions with client.-

-Monitor project schedule and financials, as well as technical performance of in-house and subcontractor activities; take or recommend corrective actions, as needed.

-Conduct periodic client discussions to monitor satisfaction. Provide feedback on team performance from client's perspective.

-Seek to balance client/Pirnie-ARCADIS needs. Act as 'go-between' with client and project manager/project team.

-Respond to problems raised by client or project team. When alerted, resolve disputes.

-Assure that technological advances and client service accomplishments are shared with others.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

-Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience with the majority of experience as a consulting engineer in the municipal water/wastewater industry. Chicago experience a plus

-Significant treatment plant design (water and wastewater) experience including development of conceptual/preliminary designs, detailed design document preparation, and construction administration services
-Knowledge of buried infrastructure design, a plus.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
-Demonstrated project management experience including budget, schedule monitoring and control responsibilities
-Experience mentoring, coaching and supervising other design engineers
-B.S. degree in engineering; M.S. a plus. IL PE preferred. EOE
