Top level technical expert responsible for all aspects of SQL database administration including designing, testing, updating, maintaining, patching, and monitoring. Expert in database creation and implementation. Defines standards for database access, structure, functional capabilities, etc. Performs system quality analysis and maintenance of databases. Provides technical consulting on complex issues/projects. Ability to maintain the highest standard of data security and confidentiality. Advises users and colleagues on problems and priorities. Makes recommendations to management on strategy and long-term database needs. Acts independently under general direction.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Database administration, performance monitoring/troubleshooting, and capacity planning
Complex problem analysis and recovery
Technical consultation on complex issues/projects
Complex database design, testing, debugging, and documentation
Technical support and troubleshooting of database servers
Data integrity, backups, restores, and disaster recovery
Database software installation and database configuration
Selection and evaluation of tools/products related to database administration
Instructing, directing, and verifying the work of other DBAs
Collaboration with vendors for problem analysis/resolution
Coordination of activities across multiple teams
Proactive identification/coordination/implementation of opportunities to enhance database support Use the Partners HealthCare values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors. BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
5 years database administration experience (2 years with SQL Server 2008/2012/2014) in a networked environment including knowledge of complex SQL commands and structures.
Strong commitment to customer service
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization including both technical and non-technical personnel
Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization
Ability to multitask and prioritize work requirements
Expert knowledge of relational database concepts
Expert knowledge and skill with relational database structures, and structured query language (SQL)
Expert knowledge of referential integrity, triggers, and stored procedures
Expert knowledge of Relational Database Systems: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012, and 2014
Strong project management skills
Office or cubicle
Climate controlled lab
Rotational 7 x 24 on-call (~2 week per month)
Remote access capabilities provided
Epic (vendor) certification will be encouraged. Travel to Wisconsin to acquire the certification training and testing is expected
