Job Description Sr. R&D Scientist, Cell Design Studio:

A Senior R&D Scientist is needed for execution of custom development projects and new product development for Cell Design Studio (CDS). This is a customer-facing R&D group, with expertise in molecular biology, genome editing, mammalian genetics, and advanced cell biology and cell culture. This position is being created to support increased demand for custom cell line engineering.



Essential Job Functions

The Senior R&D Scientist is responsible for designing and executing critical wet-lab activities in support of CDS projects. This position requires a combination of intensive laboratory work, the ability to generate and deliver scientific reports, and effective communication with the supervisor, immediate colleagues, management, and clients. This requires hands-on laboratory work, the ability to generate and deliver scientific reports (including statements of work; SOWs) on time, effective communication on project progress to management, CDS colleagues, and clients. Administrative responsibilities include: SOP training and compliance, accurate project-hour recording, etc.; develop and protect intellectual property. Guide and structure the laboratory activities of junior scientists by sharing knowledge and experience.



Requirements:

Demonstrated experience in multiple aspects of cell biology, mammalian (especially human) genetics, molecular biology, and tissue/cell culture is paramount. The ability to troubleshoot difficult experiments, lead and mentor junior colleagues, and work within a dynamic team environment are critical qualities of the ideal candidate. The successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced team environment and be able to work efficiently on challenging complex projects with aggressive timelines. Advanced training in mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique is critical, along with a superior proficiency in standard and advanced molecular cell biology methods. A minimum of a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a life sciences (or related) discipline is required; previous practical experience with pluripotent stem cells, genome editing and/or cellular models of disease is strongly desired.
