Job Description

The Software Release Manager serves as a liaison between all resources involved in the delivery of software products and updates. This role manages work identified and prioritized by the Portfolio Manager. This person is responsible for release management for all phases of the software delivery life cycle.
• Manages the release process end-to-end, from the planning of release content through to actual release deployment to production.
• First point of contact for resolving project and program changes or issues in a timely fashion.
• Works with internal teams to manage scheduled releases with completion dates for each phase. Monitors progress of phases by employing appropriate metrics and management reporting.
• Use PPM system to maintain all work related to prioritized and planned releases.
• Participates in regular post-implementation reviews and presents release metrics in order to assist with the evaluation of release quality.
• Drives continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and metrics management.
• Tracks and reports status and other metrics against goals on an ongoing basis in conjunction with Portfolio Manager.
• Works with other technical team members to resolve all release related issues.
• Writes and maintains written procedures and roles and responsibilities for release management.
• Coordinates all aspects of a release lifecycle including development and test activities.
• Establishes and facilitates release team meetings, coordinates issues and facilitates solutions pertaining to the release process, and maintains release documentation.
• Provides management with weekly status reports for all assigned projects.
• Ensures project deliverables are well defined, assigned an owner and that specific activities (Design Reviews, Code Reviews, Unit Test, Integration Test, etc.) are completely tracked.

Requirements:
• Recent experience and success managing the software release process.
• A solid understanding of systems development life cycle processes.
• Experience with system requirements, design, build, testing techniques and methodologies.
• Experience and prior use of the HP Project and Portfolio System (PPM) is highly desirable.
• Experience using the Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and facilitation skills.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to perform duties under deadline pressure in a fast-paced, high volume, office work environment.
• Prior technical and application development experience is desirable.
• Project management experience is a plus.
