Staff Biologist - Protein Purification

Responsible for the development of robust, reliable, scalable, and portable purification processes for the preclinical/clinical production of recombinant proteins produced in glycoengineered strains for the development of Biologics pipeline, including the development of purification protocols, and the flawless execution of these protocols followed by primary data analysis and interpretation. Specifically: plan the purification experiments according to objective priority by interacting with various departments within GlycoFi; perform setup & operate AKTA chromatography equipment and, if required, under aseptic conditions; change the control program algorithm according to the defined protocol on the UNICORN software; identify appropriate resin chemistry and pack chromatographic columns for protein and glycan purification; analyze and interpret the experimental data and present to various groups at GlycoFi and Merck; and enter all the experimental data and conclusions into the Process Development Database. REQUIREMENTS: Must have MS degree in biochemistry or biology and 1 year of research experience with protein purification and expression. Experience must include a broad background in engineering, molecular biology, protein purification and expression, particularly: protein characterization techniques, including SDS-Page gels, Western Blots, Analytical HPLC; microbiology, including protease activity, genetics and molecular biology, aseptic purification techniques; experimental design and biostatistics; chromatography techniques; and creative problem-solving in high pressure environment.
