Kleinfelder is seeking a Staff Civil / Geotechnical Engineer to work in our Modesto, CA office. Candidates must have 5 to 7 years of geotechnical engineering experience including soil and/or rock logging.
The ideal candidate will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering services in our team-oriented environment providing private, state, military, higher education, energy and municipal clients with professional engineering services for:
* Levee Evaluation
* Utility Infrastructure,
* Stormwater Management/Drainage Design,
* Roadway Design, and
* Civil/Site Development.
This position requires strong communication and technical writing skills, attention to detail and performance of specific engineering or scientific work on projects including: client communications; complex plans, reports, specifications; analyses and calculations; independently evaluate, select and recommend techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform technical tasks, field tasks, studies and analysis.
The ideal candidate will provide a high level of technical competency on client projects and mentor junior staff. As a technical resource and role model, this position requires an excellent attitude and an ability to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and junior staff.
Specific expectations will include but not be limited to:
* Experience with geotechnical projects including drilling, soil logging, laboratory testing, slope and seepage analysis, shallow and deep foundation design, and report preparation;
* Evaluation and inspection of levees
* Participating in technical, cost, and scheduling decisions, ensuring company quality standards, and driving customer value;
* Interfacing with Project Managers and Technical Leaders to determine specific project staffing needs; and
* Participating in technical/project scoping activities, proposal presentations, and business development activities with targeted clients.
Candidates are required to have 5 to 7 plus years of proven geotechnical experience in an engineering or professional services firm. Additionally, a Bachelor's degree in civil and professional licensure (PE) is required; although a Master's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering is preferred.
Required Proficiency in Software: Microsoft Office computer applications
Preferred Proficiency in Software programs: GeoStudio programs (SEEP/W and SLOPE/W), AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Ensoft programs (LPILE, APILE, GROUP, and Shaft).
