Staff Engineer ESD-2012-TYN-05

ARA's Engineering Science Division, located in Panama City, FL, is looking for self motivated candidates who wish to participate in cutting edge research in pavement design, engineering and materials as a Staff Engineer. At this time we are seeking to fill 2 Staff Engineer positions. Individuals must have a M.S. in Civil Engineering with expertise in modeling of materials and pavements, laboratory soil analysis, nondestructive pavement testing, finite element methodology, in-situ material characterization, pavement materials (hot mix asphalt [HMA], Portland cement concrete [PCC], aggregates and soils, and design of experiments and statistical analyses.  Knowledge of pavement design, pavement materials evaluation and/or pavement management is necessary.  This non-supervisory position, at the Staff Engineer level, reports directly to the Group Leader.  In this capacity, you will apply your knowledge of the latest advances in pavement design, engineering, and materials to research studies of national and international importance.  Candidates should have a passion for pavements-related research and must possess strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills, working knowledge of MS Office products, CADD, and strong computer skills including pavements design and analysis software and statistical analysis expertise.

General duties and responsibilities include participating in and conducting goal-oriented research at the direction of research leads, writing and presenting proposals, technical papers and reports.  Perform a variety of specific professional non-complex engineering tasks of an analysis, design, or test nature.  The position requires extensive travel (may be as high as 50 percent) for field tests and other activities in CONUS/OCONUS austere locations.  Participate on project teams as required and receives close guidance and instruction from more experienced engineers and/or supervisor when working in more complex areas.  Engineering activities support both domestic and international products/services.  Requires Master's Degree or equivalent, and two to four years of related experience.
