Staff Firmware Engineer

Job Description and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1) Key technical contributor in the design and development of embedded firmware for laser module and laser test and measurement products.
a. Participates in cross functional new product development teams as a firmware design resource.
b. Documents all design activities (generates design specifications, theory of operations, test reports, etc.)
c. Coordinates with outside software contractors when needed.
2) Develops and conducts tests on new firmware designs.
3) Analyzes firmware test data and reports on designs performance versus specifications.
4) Helps coordinates the release of new firmware designs.
5) Other software/firmware design responsibilities may be added in the future as business conditions evolve

Education and Work Experience

Required Background and Education

1) Minimum of a B.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering and 8 years of related experience

2) Technical experience in several of the following areas:

1) Firmware design for embedded microcontrollers (ARM, PIC, MSP)
2) Familiarity with embedded real time operating systems (such as Windows CE, QNX)
3) C, C++, and assembly languages
4) Embedded firmware development for USB, RS-232, GPIB, I2C, and SPI
5) Basic electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers, USB protocol analyzers
6) FPGAs and Verilog (optional)
