Job Description

Job Summary:
The Staff Geologist must be able to perform difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of the subject matter. Under broad direction, the Staff Geologist will take responsibility for the technical leadership of projects and may act as a team leader for a designated work group. He/She must have the ability to apply extensive and diversified knowledge of geological principles, advanced techniques, modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practice of the field and related discipline. Additionally, the Staff Geologist will generate, lead and develop exploration prospects through the interpretation of well logs, scout tickets and other geological data as well as support the development of discovered fields including geological oversight of drilling operations. He/She will perform other duties as requested or assigned. (This position can be filled as a Staff or Senior Staff Geologist depending on level of skills and experience.)

Lead the development of geoscience technical products that enable entry into at least one new basin or new play opportunity within the next calendar year. Provide mentorship, leadership, and technical expertise in order to fully characterize and exploit remaining growth opportunities in the Sonora Field, West Texas.

1. Grow HighMount's asset base by characterizing new basins and plays which will result in at least one new entry within the next calendar year.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong technical, leadership, and communication skills are expected of the candidate. Specific experience in Petra, SMT, Integrated Petrophysics, and Spotfire is a plus. Familiarity with all MS Office products. Unconventional and conventional petroleum systems experience with a highly developed understanding of rock mechanics is preferred. Permian Basin experience is a plus.

Education Qualifications Desired:
Master's Preferred - Geosciences

Amount And Type Of Experience Desired:
5-15 years experience.
