bStaff Nurse - Rehab Texas Childrens Hospital - Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Unitb Texas Childrens Hospital, voted one of the best places to work in Houston by the Houston Business Journal and ranked among the nations top childrens hospitals in U.S. News amp; World Report, is opening an 8 bed bPediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Unitb in late spring 2012 that will provide an acute inpatient rehabilitation program for children. The program is designed for diagnoses and conditions including brain injury, multiple trauma, musculoskeletal disorders, neurological disorders, spasticity, spinal cord injury and stroke as well as other disabling diseases and conditions. Texas Childrens has excellent opportunities for bStaff Nursesb at its new Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. In this position, the Staff Nurse will provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family centered principals and cost effective care. The rehabilitation nurse functions as a coordinator of patient care collaborating with other care providers and health team members to provide required care as effectively as possible. To qualify for this position, you must fulfill the following requirements: Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Associates Degree in Nursing, or Diploma in Nursing Current licensure with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas Pediatric andor Rehab experience is desirable This unit will provide comprehensive and interdisciplinary rehabilitation care for children and adolescents under the direction of a pediatric physiatrist and an interdisciplinary rehab care team consisting of nurses, occupational and physical therapists, speech language pathologists, behavioral and neuropsychology, social workers, educational specialists, dieticians, child life specialists, recreation therapist, music and art therapists as well as a clinical care manager. The interdisciplinary team creates an individualized plan of care specific to each child and designed to promote mobility, communication, cognitive awareness, social skills and self-care with the intended goal of reintegration back to home, school and community.
