Assumes professional responsibility for the accurate and appropriate use of pharmaceuticals for patients off all ages within the hospital. Functions within the standards of professional practice and in accordance with the departments policies and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD.) A hospital pharmacy residency is desirable but not required. The Pharmacist must have a current, valid license as a registered pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The position requires familiarization with administrative and functional concepts of drug distribution and control, drug therapy practices and demonstrate an interest in clinically oriented hospital pharmacy practice. The pharmacist must possess good communication skills, for the job requires frequent contacts with intradepartmental personnel, physicians, nurses and other health care personnel. The job also requires contacts with patients, medical sales representatives and interdepartmental personnel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position requires some standing, walking, and stair climbing. There is occasional lifting of drug cart cassettes and IV boxes of 20 to 40 lbs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Contemporary multi-hospital pharmacy practice with unit Dose Drug Distribution, IV Admixture, Drug and Information and clinical services, including pharmocokinetics and transitional care unit. Full-time Days & Evenings w/Shift & Wknd. Rotation required
