The SRA will be part of a laboratory where new techniques and areas of expertise are constantly being developed and established in the laboratory. It is expected the SRA will assist in the development and maintenance of these approaches. Under the PI's supervision the SRA will perform research to elucidate the mechanisms of action of bacterial toxins, and be involved in the a variety of activities.
Experience in mosquito rearing and maintenance. Working knowledge of microinjection of mosquito eggs and the ability to generate transgenic mosquitoes. Knowledge of developing insect lines resistant to toxicants. Ability to do word processing, spreadsheet, data analysis and graphics. Ability to maintain research data that can be easily analyzed. Experience with dissecting, inverted and fluorescence microscopes. Experience in immunohistochemistry. Three years work experience in a research laboratory.
Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or other closely related field. Ability to isolate genomics DNA and analyze gDNA by gel electrophoresis. Five years work experience in a research laboratory is preferred.
