Job Description

ARA is seeking a software developer to work full-time from our office in Champaign, Illinois. 

Responsibilities:

- Full lifecycle application development.
- Designing, coding, and debugging applications in C# .NET and ASP.NET.
- Performing software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, and software review.
- Performing object-oriented design and analysis (OOA and OOD).
- Front end graphical user interface design.
- Software testing and quality assurance.
- Supporting, maintaining, and documenting software functionality.
- Evaluating and identifying new technologies for implementation.
- Software support/bug fixes.

Our software engineers maintain existing enterprise applications and develop new technologies related to the civil engineering/transportation field.  Opportunities exist for new application development (both desktop and web based), including development of smart phone apps.

Software engineers also may be required to work directly with engineers to provide newly developed applications or to support existing software throughout the company.

ARA is an international research and engineering company recognized for providing technical solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences. In our Transportation and Infrastructure Division (including the Toronto office), this translates into providing innovative technologies and services in the areas of asset management, pavement management, pavement evaluation, pavement design, and related research studies.  Our expertise in these areas allows our clients to better address the challenges they face in cost-effectively designing, building, maintaining, and preserving airfield and roadway networks. Our mission is to provide in-depth and diversified engineering, research, and technical support services.

Required Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- At least 2 years software development experience

Additional Desired Skills:

- C# .NET experience
- Visual Studio 2005-2010 IDE experience
- Strong technical writing skills
- Software requirements/design documentation
- ASP.NET experience
- Familiarity with SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008 R2 and/or Oracle 10g/11g
- Familiarity with ArcGIS
- Any civil engineering experience is a plus
