Stationary Engineers perform preventive maintenance to ensure that plant equipment provides reliable service over its expected economic life, and assist with unscheduled repairs to reduce system downtime and regain operational capability promptly



This includes maintaining boilers, heat exchangers, air compressors, cooling towers, pumps, air handling units, refrigeration, and hydraulic equipment with maintenance procedures including, but not limited to, cleaning air handler coils, changing filters and belts, and equipment lubrication



Perform preventive maintenance of plant facilities equipment (boilers, compressors, pumps, fans, belts, bearings, filter changes, air handling unit coil cleaning, cooling towers, etc)



Assist Watch Engineer on duty or other trades as directed to monitor, reset, operate, repair, and respond to emergencies throughout the main campus and off campus offices



Respond to emergency plumbing, mechanical system, and electrical failures by making temporary repairs or calling in senior technicians from the appropriate trade and keeping management informed



Required Qualifications:

3-7 years of formal on-the-job training (each year of accredited school equates to one year of training) acquired at the Journeyman level or beyond as a Stationary Engineer, HVACR Technician, Plumber, or Electrician

Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment including basic use of electrical meters (amp and voltage)

Working knowledge of applicable Plumbing, Mechanical, or Electrical codes

Ability to read blueprints, sketches, O&M Manuals, and diagrams

Independent work in both routine and emergency situations

Effective communications skills, both verbal and written

Capable user of Personal Computers

Basic electrical skills

Valid driver s license



Desired Qualifications:

Third Grade Maryland Stationary Engineers License, HVACR, Plumbing, or Electrical Journeyman s license

Ability to operate forklift



Welding skills

Knowledge of basic electricity, pneumatic controls, and refrigerants
