Luke & Associates is now hiring a Sterile Processing Tech to work at Atlanta VAMC in Atlanta, GA. HOURS: 1900 - 0700 (11:30 pm - 8 am) Position Requirements: Education. High School DiplomaExperience. Minimum of 2 years experience as a Sterile Processing Tech, Central Supply Tech or Medical Supply Techniciana. Instrument Set Preparation and Assembly 2 yearsb. Cleaning and Decontamination 2 yearsc. Case Cart Preparation 2 yearsd. Steam Sterilization 2 yearse. High Level Disinfection 2 yearsf. Customer Service 2 yearsCertification Verification:One of the following certifications:a. Certified Registered Medical Supply Technician (CRMST) through VHA Patient Care Servicesb. International Association of Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)c. The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CSPDT)and The Contractor Personnel shall have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Job Duties include but are not limited to: The contractor shall efficiently schedule operation of sterilizers to permit cooling of sterilized items prior to use by units, clinics and the Operating Room. The contractor shall select the correct sterilizing method (steam, gas plasma, peraceatic acid, Cidex OPA) according to the materials being processed and manufacturer s guidelines. The contractor shall prepare test packs and run biological indicators in accordance with The Joint Commission (TJC), AORN Standards and Recommended Practices, IAHCSMM, and manufacturer s instructions for biological indicator products used. The contractor shall identify items to be processed with a gaseous sterilant and adjust temperature and timing mechanisms in a manner that would allow circulation and permeation by sterilizing medium. The contractor shall label all sterilized items with load control number and expiration date. The contractor shall inspect chemical integrators in each package for indication of exposure to the sterilant and inspect all products for package integrity and residual moisture. External indicator tapes will be initialed prior to submitting for sterilization to identify the preparer if necessary.
