Advisian is a leading provider of Environment & Society services for the resources and energy sectors. Our service in the Americas includes a number of Practices including Society & Engagement, Planning, Permitting and Approvals, and Sustainability & Compliance offering expertise to our clients in compliance with local requirements, and corporate and international standards. All of our practices are supported by the strength of our sciences groups focused on Atmospherics, Land, Water (Freshwater and Marine), Ecology and Health. In addition to our direct-to-client focus, we also offer an integrated approach working alongside our engineering teams.
The strategy consultant will be a core member of the global strategy service line and support the execution of the vision and goals of this service line. As the service line grows, the role of the strategy consultant will evolve. Until then, the strategy consultant will contribute to the development of the service line in the following four areas:
Supports the service line development globally: Identifies and prioritizes target clients and specific topics to push in the market. Collaborates with global sector leads and service line leads to identify target clients. Focuses and leads in one or two strategic topics to drive revenue growth
Supports the sales process: Conduct necessary strategic and industry research, prepare high quality presentations and materials, attend sales meetings as necessary
Leads strategy engagements: Manage the project team on strategy engagements and deliver on the requirements and expectations of the engagement. Examples of engagements undertaken by the strategy service line include water strategy for a unconventional oil and gas player, growth strategy for a player in oil field services, due-diligences in oil and gas and chemicals sectors.
Contributes to firm development: Support and write thought leadership articles with the assistance of leadership, train and support other non-strategy unit consultants
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
TECHNICAL AND INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Advanced degree in engineering or management or relevant industry experience in a strategy role
Minimum 5 years of experience with a management or strategy consulting firm or in the industry
Some experience with selling strategic topics to clients and comfortable in c-level settings/ presence
Depth and experience in one or two of the sectors/ sub-sectors within Advisian s portfolio
Has been trained in the strategy development process
o Develop hypothesis & solve cases (as in classic case study approach) using compelling storyboards
o Comfort with conducting, synthesizing and pressure testing external research
o Able to clearly develop & value options given ambiguous and imperfect data, market uncertainty
o Strong communicator (written and oral) and produces high quality content
Sector and content knowledge
o Has interest or has depth and experience in one or two of Advisians sectors/ sub sectors
o Goes deep to understand the industry dynamics, competition, products within the sector
o Is able to generate relevant and quantitative/ qualitative benchmarks quickly
o Knows the sources of data and industry think tanks
