Summary of Job Duties
(Note: This summary will be used for keyword search) The Student Affairs and Academic Personnel Manager independently manages all aspects of the graduate and undergraduate programs and all academic personnel functions in the department of Computer Science. Supervises the Graduate Advisor, Undergraduate Program Coordinator, and Administrative and Academic Personnel Analyst. Oversees the advising of approximately 150 graduate and 450 undergraduate students on a wide variety of issues, including personal and academic issues related to their welfare in the programs. Maintains statistical information and prepares various reports for the College of Engineering, CS faculty, and others as needed. Independently develops and implements procedures to ensure efficient flow and retrieval of information regarding the graduate and undergraduate programs. Creates a cohesive team within the Student Services area and a climate which enhances the student's academic environment and which academic and personal problems may be freely discussed. Oversees all academic personnel functions, including the academic review process and faculty recruitments. Maintains extensive knowledge of University and Graduate Division policies and procedures regarding graduate and undergraduate student affairs and academic personnel. Maintains the ability to interpret regulations from various administrative offices to ensure compliance.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and prior experience. Demonstrated experience in college-level student academic advising. Strong work experience with academic program matters: advising students, enforcing requirements, monitoring student progress, and handling sensitive student issues. Demonstrated experience with problem solving and customer service. Ability to organize, prioritize and complete work with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated work experience with strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy. Able to work independently, act with sound judgment, and strict confidentiality in all aspects of work. Able to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students on a variety of advising issues and communicate policy and procedures effectively. Good judgement, tact, and diplomacy.

Desirable Requirements
Prior supervisory experience. Knowledge of UCSB systems: PPS and ISIS. Familiarity with UC Policies and procedures as it relates to student affairs. Knowledge of UC Policies/Procedures as it relates to academic merits and promotions, faculty recruitment, and employment desirable.
