Position: Student Employment Advisor

Job Summary

To assist students in securing both non-career related and career related part-time jobs, career related freelance opportunities and coordinating college work study. Incumbent must assure that the EDMC philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion - is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Key Job Elements

-Promote the availability of current part-time and freelance employment assistance to students in classroom presentations and by creating and implementing related campus events, including job fairs, workshop, on-site interviews, etc. and serve as a liaison between students and employers. -Contact employers by phone, mail and in person to obtain part-time and freelance job leads. Inform and educate employers of the services offered by the department and successfully communicate said open job leads to student body. -Serve as a liaison between students and employers; refer qualified students to appropriate part-time and freelance job openings. Monitor progress of job search and accepted employment through follow up with students and employers. Maintain accurate student records of employment. -Work with Student Financial Services department to identify and prioritize high need students. Coordinate College Work Study with SFS by soliciting leads, explaining procedures, screening and referring students and maintaining employment. -Serve as back up on phones for Administrative Assistant.

Committee, Department Directors, Student Committees, student services staff, Student Financial Services, faculty, all potential employers of alumni/graduates.

Job Requirements

Knowledge: -Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field. Equivalent experience could be considered as substitute for education requirements. -Two years experience in placement/search firm, career counseling or industry-related position, and at least one year experience in a marketing or field-related environment -Previous experience working closely with college students recommended but not required. Skills: -Excellent communication skills, including sales/persuasive abilities and the ability to build successful relationships with business organizations and graduates. -Computer literacy in MS Office suite. Abilities: -Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage own time, and to meet frequently occurring deadlines. -Ability to effectively work independently as well as work well in a team environment. -Must be goal and team oriented, detail oriented, and conduct business with attention to ethical considerations, employment law and school/accreditation guidelines.
