Department: Obstetrics & Gynecology
Under general supervision is responsible for daily operations of the division s clinical services. Ensures efficient and effective customer-orientation of all ambulatory clinic and inpatient activities for groups, provision of high-quality services by clinical support staff at all sites within applicable policies and procedures, strategic positioning of services within the groups, oversight of all charge entry and billing procedures and supervision of all clinic support staff; performs all duties of Patient Service Coordinator. Provides support to the Business Operations Manager for monitoring and improving financial performance and operating efficiency.
Responsibilities: Consistently applies the corporate values of respect, honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly, geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health care system. Supervises clinical support staff, including direct daily supervision of patient services coordinators, medical assistants, file clerks and/or other clinical support staff. Interviews, trains, evaluates and disciplines staff in conjunction with Business Operations Manager and Human Resources. Provides workflow analysis and job coaching. Conducts weekly staff meetings, providing staff with effective direction, guidance, and leadership for effective teamwork and motivation. Schedules staff vacation time. In conjunction with clinic director, designs and implements databases for the tracking of statistical data. Assists in performance measurement/operational/process improvement studies and related special projects. Recommends and implements changes to improve operational efficiency. Performs or supervises the production of a variety of standard and special reports. May plan and implement new or revised mechanisms for monitoring clinical services. Coordinates the setup and maintenance of office computers for clinicians and staff. Serves as network contact for the clinical user groups of the hospital s computer network. Coordinates with Information Systems Department to ensure technical needs are met Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Requirements: Level of knowledge generally obtained through completion of two years of college in Business Administration or a related area. Two to three years supervisory experience in a healthcare environment including staff training and development, job coaching and evaluation. Computer literacy required, including proficiency with relational databases (such as Access), familiarity with word-processing programs and electronic spreadsheets, and facility in learning new applications. Ability to learn and use SMS and other Tufts MC network programs required. Excellent knowledge of third party billing regulations and associated operations and processes. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential medical information. Analytic and quantitative skills are needed to design and produce financial and clinical reports to make resource-planning decisions. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Full-Time Regular Day Rotation Associates degree required Experience is required
