Salary: $83K-$141K
Long hours necessary at times.

JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as the leader of a specific service line(s) at facility, providing strategic leadership for the development of the service line such that a full and holistic continuum of services is created and structured in response to customer needs.

Guides the development of the overall leadership structure and strategic plan, creates goals and plans for mission effectiveness, for quality and financial management and works to ensure the alignment of the service line.

Accountable for the overall performance of the service line(s).

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

*Meets deadlines, is action-oriented, and achieves results on operational targets.

*Makes timely and careful decisions and solves problems as they arise to insure departmental operations meet patient and customer needs.

*Develops programs/services that improve patient access.

*Keeps abreast of key employee and physician issues and concerns to allow early intervention.

*Works closely with Materials Management and vendors to assure cost-effective purchases and services.

*Regularly communicates with physicians and department chair to discuss ongoing issues, review operations and maintain open lines of communication.

*Uses patient, employee and physician satisfaction tools to gauge satisfaction with service delivery and initiate change as needed.

*Remains current in latest concepts or strategies in Healthcare Management.

*Provides direction and works closely with managers to develop staffing and scheduling practices which are within the constraints of productivity and budget standards.

*Gives direction and guidance to managers and supervisors regarding employee relation matters, hiring, interviewing, work practices, disciplining and all aspects of employee relations.

*Provides role clarification, role adapt ion, direction, mentoring and role modeling to managers.

*Have ongoing discussions and team building activities regarding problem solving and is available as a resource to managers.

*Mediates for staff/managers/physicians when appropriate to provide conflict resolution.

*Assures communication channels and systems are in place and working to promote ongoing interaction between staff and manager.

*Works closely with managers to assure good understanding of and explanation of rationale for decision making, communication of such to staff.

*Meets budgeted requirements yearly.

*Develops and implements cost savings ideas for division.

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

*Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.

*Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.

*Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.

*Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.

*Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.

*Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.

*Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.

*Complies with established organization and department policies.

*Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience:

*Must have or be in the process of obtaining an Advanced or Graduate Degree.

*A minimum of 5years of job-related experience is required.

*Five to seven years of more responsible surgery nursing experience, including four to five years of increasingly progressive management/supervisory experience.

*Thorough knowledge of Surgery and Cardiovascular Nursing Policies, procedures and techniques within departments and knowledge of how they interface with the overall policies.

*Strongly developed managerial and analytical skills to coordinate and direct activities of surgical and cardiovascular services including staffing, budgets, equipment and clinical activities.

*Excellent communication skills with demonstrated knowledge base in working with complex interpersonal problems.
