The Surgical Coordinator facilitates services operative schedule (elective, add-on, and emergency); acts as a liaison between room staff, instrument room managers, instrument room staff, and the Charge Nurse; facilitates care and processing of surgical instruments; and functions in the Certified Surgical Technician role as needed.


Competent Practitioner in the Certified Surgical Technician role. Assists Specialty Resource Nurse of a Service within the Operating Room Service; Facilitates Specialty Services' Operative Schedule; Poses Management and Leadership Skills to Supervise Sterile Processing Tech's in the completion of job description duties; Facilitates Care/Maintenance of Surgical Instruments. Working knowledge of Universal Precautions to Peri-Operative practice. Working knowledge of use, function, and operation of Operating Room equipment, instrumentation, and furniture. Working knowledge of Operating Room sanitation, aseptic technique, surgical procedures, anatomy and terminology. Ability to read and write proper English Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with peers and other co-workers. Skill in working independently with minimal direction and supervision. Skill in performing repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence and pace. Physical ability to lift heavy objects, push or pull heavy carts, handle surgical equipment carefully and safely and stand for long period of time. Ability to learn new procedures and improve existing skills by participating in various types of training courses. Graduate of recognized Surgical Technologist program or certified Surgical Technologist with more than one year experience. Ability to demonstrate current possession of National Certificate for Surgical Scrub Technician.
