The System Engineer s primary goal is to oversee the complex combined systems infrastructure, networks and other various components and review, recommend and engineer the systems to work together into one integrated highly performing and reliable platform. The System Engineer Installs, administers, manages, and evaluates all aspects of IPNT server/system architecture to ensure optimal performance, connectivity, reliability, security, data storage and integrity, and inter-operability with various systems and applications run locally or externally with a specific emphasis on High Performance Computing capabilities in support of iO video services and the platforms comprised. The System Engineer is involved in day to day administration for performance of all compute nodes, servers, and in support IPNT Systems Engineering to ensure adherence with established standards, best practices, and policies. With assistance from the Manager of Platforms/Services and the Leads, the System Engineer will anticipate planning future growth of the IPNT Systems Engineering infrastructure through projecting and forecasting capacity requirements based on analysis of current performance levels and ability to meet demands employing both on-premise and external resources (public/prvate cloud). Additionally, the System Engineer identifies, evaluates, brokers adoption, and facilitates transition to new technology, methodologies and data administration procedures, protocols, standards and security measures required to engage in external provisioning of Cloud services.

Other responsibilities include: Works with leads to assist team in conjunction with Corporate Engineering, IPNT Network Team and various vendors to identify, evaluate and implement technology solutions and to resolve performance, interoperability, network, and data storage issues; provides support for the development of end user requirements definitions; supports new technology, methodologies and data administration procedures, protocols, standards and security measures consistent with the organization; assists the architecture team to enforces SLAs, connectivity, monitors performance of servers, network and databases; coordinates diagnostic testing to correct performance problems; anticipates in the testing of system enhancements and patches; performs test scripts and system configuration to ensure results achieve desired outcomes throughout all effected systems; leverages expertise and industry knowledge to oversee feasibility studies of new and/or enhancements to current infrastructure solutions to provide recommendations and analysis of anticipated outcomes; writes scripts / customizes tools to evaluate and monitor disk space and system usage (in conjunction with the NOC); analyzes rate of growth to available equipment; re-allocates disk space to maximize usage.

* Bachelor s degree in Information Technology or closely related field of study
* Minimum of five years experience in server/network administration, virtual environment
* Server security, system high availability and Linux administration experience
* Broad knowledge of IP technology and operating systems, including but not limited to: RedHat, VMWare, Windows and Solaris.
* In-depth knowledge of Cisco UCS blade architecture coupled with ability to complete a ground up build of a brand new install
* Must have the ability to comprehend and grasp technologies, systems and ideas.
