Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a Computer Science or a related field plus three (3) to five (5) years of experience in maintaining servers, storage and backup systems. Additional training in computing or other technology related domains are preferred. Must possess a proven track record in administering a variety of Server systems including: Windows (necessary), Linux, UNIX, and Apple Mac OS X server (favorable). Must possess a basic understanding of multiple advanced technologies including: SANS, fibre channel networking, database systems, security related to server management and backup systems. The candidate should be very organized and detail oriented and able to articulate technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with multiple Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Office of Information Technology and other University/Unit IT constituencies.

The candidate should possess experience in delivering technical and/or analytic support to administrative, research, clinical and educational missions within a biomedical academic environment. A general computing knowledge in the following area is necessary: Win, Mac, Unix (both desktop and server). The candidate must keep abreast of industry trends and changes in software and hardware technologies in order to improve service levels and advance the use of appropriate technologies. Must be team oriented, flexible and focused on meeting the mission needs of a diverse user community. A candidate with experience in the academic basic science and/or clinical research field would be highly competitive. Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Systems Administrator for Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), the Systems Administrator (SA) is responsible for managing the configuration, and administration of servers, storage and related technologies for the entire Medical School.

The Systems Administrator develops solutions set forth by the Services Development and Deployment Group (SDDG), develops policies and procedures consistent with industry best practices for use by the Technical Support Group (TSG) and provides educational content for the Technical Training Group (TTG). The SA engages with the CA-IST organization as well as other IT professionals from other Schools/Units in order to develop collaborative opportunities where applicable.
