Job Description

Title: Systems Analyst, Business & Process Development

Term: direct hire

Location: Durham, NC

Salary Range: $85-95k

DISYS is seeking an experienced Systems Analyst to support our client in the environmental and public health space working to address critical environmental and health problems that impact communities and ecosystems globally.

This role will help with business development and RFPs , provide project summaries and abstracts on new initiatives, have a technical approach, and be able to mentor Jr. BAs and work with PMs transitioning to Agile.

The successful candidate will possesses that rare blend of process management, business development, visual design, prototyping, and documentation skills coupled with a strong interest in science and problem solving. The position does not require programming expertise, the preferred candidate will have the ability to program in at least one language for web/mobile, desktop application, or relational database development.
Job Requirements

Qualifications

The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline (information and library science, computer science, engineering, or science-related area) and at least 8 years of demonstrated experience supporting software development for interactive websites, mobile, and/or desktop applications. The candidate will also have an interest in environmental and public health (food safety/food security) issues.

Required skills:

* Experience creating and maintaining documentation for all aspects of the SDLC (design, requirements, testing, technical specifications, deployment specifications)

* Demonstrated ability to support software development using one or more software development methodologies with a heavy preference for Agile methodologies (Scrum, XP, Lean)

* Experience applying process standards.

* Experience using source-code control and task-tracking software, such as Git and Jira.

* Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.

* Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

Desired skills:

* Experience in responsive UI design and working across platforms including mobile.

* Experience creating marketing materials and/or writing proposals.

* Experience as a JIRA/Confluence administrator

* Programming experience, database experience, and/or familiarity with GIS applications and associated APIs

* Skills with markup languages including HTML 5 and XML.

* Strong interest in science and environmental issues.
