Position Description:
The Systems Engineer II will provide Active Directory, DNS, Citrix, VMWare and EMC Storage support working in a large-scale Enterprise environment using Microsoft Clustering, Network Load Balancing (NLB), Microsoft IIS, and Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008. The Systems Engineer II will provide the highest level of technical support on Windows Operating Systems and Windows Systems Administration/Engineering to insure system availability and support in Advance Auto Parts corporate. The Systems Engineer II is responsible for the selection, development, integration, and maintenance of system software, operating systems, third party software, computing hardware, and peripheral devices. Facilitate communications both intra and inter departmentally in support of Advance Auto business objectives. The Systems Engineer II plans, structures, and controls assigned projects, providing timely status reporting to key management team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Setup, configure and maintain Microsoft based computing environments to support research projects
- Provide guidance to other members of the organization as to security and maintenance best practices pertaining to Microsoft platforms.
- Provide written project requirements, design specifications, implementation plans and project schedules to the Project Review Committee based on provided requirements.
- Research and provide input on new and upcoming technologies and determine how they can be leveraged within the organization.
- Work with other members of the R&D team to deliver on key projects.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose performance bottlenecks and application failures on Microsoft platforms.
- Be aware of the company's policy on information security and take whatever actions may from time to time be required under the terms of the company's Information Security Management System (ISMS).
- Ensure quality processes and documentation are developed and followed to effectively create corporate intelligence and assist in efficient standard operating procedures in support of Company?s ISO 9001/27001 standards.
- Be aware of and abide by all company policies and procedures (e.g. Employee Handbook).
- Coordinate system development tasks to include design, integration and formal testing
- Oversees all transitions into production.
- Interact with other functional areas in planning, executing, and reviewing of inter and intra-departmental projects.
- Develop and complete actions in system specifications, technical and logistical requirements and other disciplines.
- Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning and execution.
- Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities.
- Works well individually or in a group setting.
- Establishes standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
- Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules and plans as required.
- Prepares project status reports and keeps management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
- Establishes effective practices for third level support of Advance Auto's production systems 7x24.
- Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original specifications.
- Monitors project results against technical specifications.
- Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
- Serve as a technical resource for Business Units, Store Systems, and other groups in the development of standards, system design, and integration.
