TEACHING PROFESSOR POSITION
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, IRVINE
The Department of Psychology and Social Behavior at the University of California, Irvine seeks candidates for the position of Teaching Professor, which is a full-time faculty position designed for individuals who wish to focus their careers on teaching, professional activities, and university and community service. Teaching Professors are members of the University of California Academic Senate and have all of the usual benefits of Senate membership, such as eligibility for UC Irvine s attractive faculty housing programs, medical insurance, and retirement benefits. Formally titled Lecturers with Potential Security of Employment (LPSOE), Teaching Professors are evaluated for reappointment and merit salary increases every two years. Within eight years (or less), they are evaluated for Security of Employment, which has the permanence of a tenured position. Promotion of a Teaching Professor in the LPSOE series requires excellent teaching and service, in addition to evidence that the candidate has made outstanding and recognized contributions to the development of his or her specific discipline and/or of pedagogy. Teaching will be assigned in a manner that fulfills the needs of the unit and is also compatible with this requirement.
The Department is seeking someone to teach undergraduate and graduate courses on statistics and research methods (including research conducted in natural settings). The successful candidate might also be asked to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: affective science, developmental psychology, health psychology, social/personality psychology, psychopathology/clinical psychology, and psychology and law.
Priority will be given to applications received by November 1, 2016; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in psychology or related field and evidence of outstanding teaching.
