JOB DESCRIPTIONGENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Under general supervision of the project manager and medical director, and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, the candidate is responsible for several aspects of clinical trials which are focused on cardiology. The responsibilities include oversight and organization of clinical trials, research related to clinical trials, specimen processing and testing and performing a variety of analytical procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Performs routine and complex analytical procedures on all bodily fluids using complex instrumentation, robotics, and/or established manual methods according to research protocols and laboratory policies.
2.Records data and maintains results database
3.Performs administrative activities including appropriate documentation for each clinical trial
4.Reports on progress of work regularly with supervisors.
5.Maintains established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, including the areas of quality assurance, safety, environmental affairs and infection control.
6.Performs all other duties and responsibilities as directed.
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in a biological/physical science required.
Previous experience with clinical trials preferred but not required.
Some laboratory experience desired. Undergraduate coursework or projects may be considered as appropriate experience, and may be credited upon hire if projects directly related to position.
Ability to oversee clinical trial operations and supervise research technologists
Ability to carry out procedures in a coordinated multi-step manner with appropriate consultation
Ability to methodically record data and to analyze data using basic statistics
Ability to work under general supervision
Ability to perform a variety of routine procedures.
Ability to prioritize work.
1.Clinical laboratory environment with areas for specimen processing, instrumentation and computer workspace
2.Potential exposure to infectious urine, blood and other body fluids.
