JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Working independently, under the very general supervision of Principal Investigator, and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, conducts a variety of routine and non-routine experiments to develop microscale and nanoscale technologies with the ultimate goal of generating tissue-engineered organs and controlling cell behavior. May identify new techniques. Calculates, transcribes and analyzes data using statistical techniques.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Independently conducts a variety of routine experiments to develop microscale and nanoscale technologies with the ultimate goal of generating tissue-engineered organs and controlling cell behavior.
2.Records and calculates data, summarizes and analyzes results.
3.Prepares laboratory reagents, chemicals, instruments, and equipment.
4.May perform literature searches and assist with preparation of presentations and articles for publication.
5.Maintains supplies inventory in accordance with departmental procedures.
6.Discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.
7.All other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in a chemical/physical science required.
At least one year, post graduation, prior experience in areas of synthetic chemistry and analytical chemistry is preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Good organizational skills, detail oriented.
Sound degree of chemical handling.
Ability to methodically record data and to analyze data using basic statistics.
Ability to perform a variety of routine tests and prioritize work.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism.
