TMG Intern This supervised position will allow for a college student who is seeking a career in the power industry to apply as well as enhance their knowledge with regard to the maintenance and management of major maintenance of power generating assets. This position will require the individual to work a normal day shift as well as rotating shift when required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Learn current aspects of Calpines ever changing purchasing requirements in an effort to procure parts, services and labor for major maintenance activities within Calpine's National fleet of power generating assets. 2. Assist in maintaining outage documentation to include outage reports, boroscope inspection reports, technical specifications, prod mods and bulletins all within a state of the art Access database. 3. Exposure to technical build records, turbine drawings and specifications, online parts catalogs and various other sources of documentation leading to the construction and maintenance of industrial gas turbines. 4. Exposure to budgeting, planning and executing industrial gas turbine major maintenance where costs can range from sever hundred thousand dollars to in excess of $10 Million dollars per evolution. 5. Assist in development and implementation (go live) status of state of the art technical bulletin tracking software. 6. Exposure to industrial gas turbine control systems and combustion system tuning and troubleshooting. 7. Assist with the scheduling of manpower and resources for outage work and assist with managing the top turbine engineers in the nation 8. Perform other duties as assigned while under the direct supervision of a Calpine employee. 9. Report to Outage Services Director(s) and/or their direct reports (project managers) and take day-to-day instructions, both written and verbal, from them. Job Requirements - Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship 3.0 GPA in a 4 year engineering program at an accredited institution. Completion of at least 30 credits towards graduation Willingness to work outdoors, in field locations, in a *hands on* environment A good comprehension of basic engineering practices through work experience or college courses Must have strong computer skills especially in the use of spreadsheet and word processing programs Good verbal and written communication skills are essential Must be flexible and able to work harmoniously with others Good problem solving and analytical ability Good organization skills and attention to details are essential Preferred Experience - Previous work experience, including internships Exposure to maintenance, construction, or inspection of large plant facilities (petrochemical, refining, or power).
