Tableau Data Modeler

Summary: Plans, organizes, designs and implements reporting solutions using Tableau to support various business functions. The work involves end to end implementation including extracting from various disparate data source systems, building security into the data models and deploying the end reports in Tableau.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Meets with users to understand the reporting requirements and business problems requiring data
Gathers and stores data in relational data models in Tableau from various data sources using both live and extract methodologies
Curates the data from different sources to make it usable
Builds table joins and custom calculations in the data model based on user requirements
Publishes to Tableau server and collaborates the data models with different business communities to consume for end user reporting
Designs and implements related Tableau Security for the data models and reports
Extracts data from disparate technologies like SAP BI , SAP HANA, Oracle , SQL, GIS systems, etc.
Manages and manipulates large amounts of data and its related performance tuning methodologies
Works with business users to build their reports and dashboards
Participates and leads research and development efforts (proofs of concept, prototypes), as subject matter expert, when introducing new technologies.
Serves as technical owner and point of contact for domain specific solutions
Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
5+ years of experience in information technology, business intelligence, business analytics, or data management, inclusive of 3+ years of experience building data models within Tableau, SQL & ETL
Deep understanding of information models and information architectures
Experience with user requirement gathering methodologies and the Utilities Sector data
Experience with connecting to wide variety of source systems like SQl, Oracle, DB2 and SAP.
Demonstrated track record of designing and producing meaningful, effective data visualizations using multidimensional and flat data source connections.
Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative approach with diverse business users and manage multiple competing priorities and assignments. Proven ability to work effectively as a member of various teams in a matrixed environment, which may include company personnel, project resources and third-party/outsourced vendors.
Strong and current technical background on modern BI and reporting technologies.
Experience in end to end life cycle implementation User information gathering to datamodel deployment including tableau security
Must have experience with data testing, report writing and data management
Must have experience with requirements gathering and documentation processes
Familiarity with AGILE/Scrum development preferred
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects
Fast leaner and open to learning new ETL and Reporting technologies
Utility and SAP BI on HANA experience is a plus
