Job Description
Team Lead
A growing biotechnology company has an opening for a Team Lead in its facility. Responsibilities include: Serving as the person in charge in the absence of the senior manager; assigning work to & following-up on staff schedules to meet routine & emergency needs of animals, as directed by the senior manager; directly supervising animal technicians in daily activities; performing, training, &/or assisting animal technicians in the preparation & performance of technical procedures, including but not limited to dosing animals via all routes of administration, immunizations, bleeding of experimental animals, measurement of tumors, irradiation, monitoring of disease evolution & harvesting tissues or organs using aseptic techniques, conducting animal surgeries, preparation & conducting procedures for hiso-pathology analysis (immunoflouresence & immunohistochemistry) ex-vivo; Western analysis of tumor or normal tissues; ensuring the St&ard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & company policies & procedures are adhered to by the staff; monitoring environmental & biological conditions in the facility & reporting any discrepancies; assisting in the training of technicians, animal caretakers, & cagewash personnel; reporting any abnormal conditions of the animal facility or immediate vicinity to appropriate personnel; maintaining the sentinel animal program; maintaining accurate & detailed animal health & facility related records; reading & underst&ing technical requirements stated in animal study protocals; properly anesthetizing research animals for study as directed by ASPs & facility SOPs; restraining, h&ling, & manipulating research animals; humanely sacrificing animals designated for euthanasia in accordance with the appropriate ASPs & facility SOPS; performing daily animal health surveillance checks & reporting any abnormal conditions of the animals or the animal room environment to the senior manager; preparing & submitting required written records, charts, logs & inventories, as directed; coordinating & preparing research animals for export; performing prescribed treatments on animals, as directed by senior manager; performing other duties, as assigned
