Schedule: Monday Friday, Evening Shift

PT 25 hours

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

The Problem Resolution Technician solves issues in regards to processing and testing laboratory specimens. They will be directly involved with Clients, Patients, Specimen Processing, Referral Testing and Technical departments in order to expedite specimen testing and result reporting.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Primary point-of-contact for resolution of specimen problems and communication with technical departments to avoid testing delays and/or complications.

2. Responsible for calling clients or patients to obtain resolution of problems.

3. Demonstrates a good understanding of job duties and SOP s related to Specimen Processing problem resolution.

4. Demonstrates and conveys an understanding of the compliance policies relating to test ordering, test reporting, add-on tests, TNP s, reflex tests and custom panels.

5. Provides priority handling of samples with limited stability and problems impacting their processing.

6. Demonstrates ability to correctly pull specimens, investigate sample adequacy, research test ordering information, specimen requirements and stability.

7. Responsible for correctly entering TIQ problems into LIS (laboratory information system).

8. Responsible for correctly canceling (TNP) erroneous, improper or mishandled specimens.

9. Responsible for correctly processing Name Mismatches and providing proper notification to client solutions along with follow-up documentation for reporting purposes.

10. Responsible for utilizing all available resources (e.g. Computer systems, technical staff, Client Services, etc) to provide accurate feedback relating to inquiries and problems affecting testing.

11. Demonstrates leadership quality that provides a positive influence to all team members.

12. Provides appropriate feedback to supervisors and manager when problems arise

13. Perform all other job duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Computer skills and data entry experience.
2. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to speak clearly and effectively to communicate with the departments, clients and patients.
3. Laboratory experience with strong customer service background preferred.
4. Reflects good judgment at all times when determining what action to take when resolving problems.
5. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast paced environment.
6. Ability to handle stressful situations and demonstrate a potential for strong independent problem solving skills
7. Adheres to Quest Diagnostics core values, safety and compliance policies and procedures
8. Moderate PC skills in Excel and Word applications.
9. Willingness to accept additional responsibilities with a positive attitude and foster teamwork environment.
10. Must exhibit comfortable interaction with technical staff and other departments.
11. Excellent knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology required.

Incumbent should possess the knowledge, skills and experience usually obtained by:

1. High School or equivalent
2. Must have at least 3 years experience in a laboratory environment or a production setting.
3. Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
4. Previous analysis experience preferred.
