Job Description
Description Responsible for leading IT in implementing best practice for coding standards, web sites, web application development and web services across front-end, back-end and database systems. This position requires expert knowledge of web development software, staying on top of current trends and assisting with tool and technology discovery for improving overall user experience. The Technical Lead Web Architect's role as an IT Architect is to construct and implement the technical design for McGraw-Hill's Construction web presence on the Intranet and Internet across front-end, back-end and database systems. This role involves the selection of Web applications' hardware and software platforms, developing site navigation, and designing an application framework. Will need to set and enforce compatibility and interoperability standards that ensure site accessibility for all users. Responsibilities:
Define and implement enterprise coding standards for HTML, Advanced CSS and JavaScript
Experience working with, designing and developing Content Management Systems
Knowledge of internet advertising, e-mail marketing, traffic metrics, or search engine optimization
Strong knowledge of database and information architecture with web application integration
Possesses significant knowledge of client server and internet systems architectures
Cross-browser/platform experience and browser specific compatibility issues
Excellent understanding of database modeling
Experience with Agile process (SCRUM is preferred)
Ability to apply business logic to development requirements
Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
Communicates effectively with clients to identify requirements and evaluate alternative business solutions
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a deadline driven environment
Ability to work successfully both independently and in a team setting
Qualifications
Required:
Qualified applicants should possess a BS in computer science and/or equivalent job experience
8+ years of web application development experience
Must have CMS, preferred Team side
Must have extensive knowledge of HTML, XHTML, XML, ASP, AJAX/JavaScript, DOM, CSS.
Interact with servers using SSH, FTP and Telnet protocols
Working knowledge of Web Servers such as Apache and Tomcat
%3CLIandgt; Working knowledge of databases such as Oracle and SQL Server
Must have experience in dealing with multiple browsers and their versions (IE, FireFox, Netscape, Chrome, etc)
Strong problem solving and analytical abilities are required
Needs to be detail-oriented, resourceful, and work well under pressure
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential
